The system is designed to inert a traveling waveguide or radome with dry nitrogen gas to prevent electrical arcing at low altitudes.
Features:
The system consists of a 3,000 psi (207 bar) steel gas vessel manifolded to a pressure regulator with unique control features. The system delivers dry nitrogen via a solenoid valve and absolute pressure regulator. The system also contains a fill valve and pressure gauge. The pressure gauge allows for manual checking, there are two pressure switches that are used to indicate to the pilot when the pressure is in an acceptable range.
The normally closed solenoid valve is activated when 21 VDC is applied and will stay open as long as the voltage is applied. The solenoid will draw no more than 0.5 amps at 28 VDC.
The pressure regulator output pressure is 19 psia (1.3 bar) when inlet pressure ranges from 3,000 psia (207 bar) to 100 psia (6.9 bar).
System safety is assured by a pressure relief valve on the high pressure side which provides over pressure protection by venting the pressure vessel at 4,500 psig.
