  Mechanical Actuators
U.S. Navy nuclear submarines store high-pressure oxygen outside the pressure hull. The high-pressure oxygen is brought into the submarine through a hull penetration tube welded into the bulkhead. Emergency situations sometimes require the oxygen supply to be turned off from remote locations. Carleton's lanyard operated mechanical actuator is mounted on top of the hand valve and is used to remotely shut off the oxygen supply.
